Property & Financial Affairs Lasting Power of Attorney

Appoint someone you trust to manage your property and financial affairs if you lose mental capacity.

What is a Property & Financial LPA?

A Property & Financial Affairs LPA allows you to choose someone (your attorney) to make decisions about your finances and property if you become unable to make these decisions yourself.

Your attorney can make decisions about:

  • Managing your bank and building society accounts
  • Paying your bills and everyday expenses
  • Selling your home
  • Managing your investments and pensions
  • Claiming and receiving benefits on your behalf

Flexibility: Unlike a Health & Welfare LPA, a Property & Financial LPA can be used as soon as it's registered, even if you still have mental capacity (unless you specify otherwise).
