Work through the questionnaire together. Your parent signs in their own hand; you handle everything else.
A Lasting Power of Attorney in England and Wales does nothing until it has been registered with the Office of the Public Guardian. This is the full guide to registering a Lasting Power of Attorney in the UK: what you post, how long it takes, and how to avoid the mistakes that get applications sent back. Keystone's signing pack is designed specifically to prevent those.
A fair share of self-submitted Lasting Powers of Attorney in the UK get rejected by the Office of the Public Guardian for the same avoidable mistakes: wrong signing order, missing dates, ineligible witnesses, Tipp-Ex on the form. Keystone's signing pack stops every one of them before the envelope is posted.

The Office of the Public Guardian publishes an 8 to 10 week target from receipt of a correctly completed Lasting Power of Attorney. In practice, allow up to three months before you expect to have a registered Lasting Power of Attorney in hand. Longer if mistakes send the application back.

The Office of the Public Guardian charges £92 to register each Lasting Power of Attorney in 2026. The fee is paid to the government, not to Keystone or your solicitor. For a couple registering both Lasting Power of Attorney types each (four documents in total), that is £368 in Office of the Public Guardian fees alone.
Registering makes the document legally valid. Activating is when your attorney starts using it. A Health and Welfare Lasting Power of Attorney can only be activated after you lose capacity. A Property and Financial Lasting Power of Attorney can be activated as soon as it is registered, if you chose that option.

A Lasting Power of Attorney is a standard government form. A solicitor charging £300+ uses the exact same one Keystone fills in for £69. What the solicitor's fee buys is knowing which boxes to tick and what order to sign, and our guided form does that for you, with a signing pack the Office of the Public Guardian cannot reject.

I started Keystone after my own parents got quoted £1,400 by a solicitor for two Powers of Attorney. Exact same government forms. Exact same legal result. It just felt like something that shouldn't need to cost that much.

They can disclaim the role in writing. If you appointed replacement attorneys, they step in. If you didn't, the Lasting Power of Attorney may fall away and a Court of Protection application might be needed.
£92 per Lasting Power of Attorney. The fee is paid directly to the Office of the Public Guardian when you post your signed forms.
